As upper elementary classroom teacher in Massachusetts for seven years, Dr. Tondreau also worked as an adjunct instructor and co-director of the Summer Literacy Clinic at Rhode Island College. After moving to New York City, Dr. Tondreau supervised student teachers, coordinated fieldwork placements, and taught courses for both undergraduates and graduate students at The City College of New York and Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Tondreau also worked with students, teachers, and administrators across New York as a staff developer and writer for the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project. Dr. Tondreau is an active member in NCTE, LRA, AERA, and AACTE. This is her third year as an Assistant Professor of Literacy in the Eriksson College of Education at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. Her research interests include critical literacy, writing pedagogy, literacy identities, children's literature, the cross-pollination of Universal Design for Learning and Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy, professional learning communities, and antiracist, anti-bias pedagogies.
