Engaging students beyond the classroom Walls
Preeti Singh and Kim George

Skype in the classroom helps students explore and venture beyond the classroom walls and gain experience with other classrooms from around the country - and possibly the world. We learn from guest readers, and go to near and far places with virtual tours. “Mystery Skype” is a fun and exciting way in which students learn to collaborate and think critically in order to ask and answer questions in real-time. These techniques help reinforce academic skills, build team spirit in our classroom, and create excitement while also exposing the students to other cultures. Virtual tours make learning fun for students as they explore places that they would have not otherwise had the opportunity to visit. Students use these digital tools to broaden their perspective and enrich their learning by collaborating with others and working effectively in teams, both locally and globally.
